Raise your hand if you’re a hardcore SNACKER?! I’m raising both of my hands right now. Well, not really (because I’m typing), but I’m metaphorically raising them… I promise! Rest assured, you can find me munching, crunching, and slurping away at any hour of the day.
Honestly, I personally gravitate more towards sweet things to munch on (kettle corn, my Lemon Cranberry Muffins with Chia Seeds, apple slices, etc.). BUT, sometimes I do crave more salty snacks. I try my best to stay away from super processed snacks, so today I wanted to share with you an experiment with making a healthy cracker recipe.
This one uses NO GRAINS, NO OIL, NO EGGS, NO PRESERVATIVES, and NO BAD STUFF! These crackers sure are a WIN in like, every category… hooray!
I actually made these for a friend who has a gluten allergy, but the batch accidentally disappeared before I could give them to her (whoops).
These crackers are AWESOME because they’re:
- Naturally gluten-free
- Made entirely from seeds and spices
- Full of healthy fats
- Super tasty
The process of making these crackers is pretty easy. Just mix the water with the flax to create a base and spread it evenly on a lined baking sheet. After that, sprinkle the additional seeds and spices over top and press them into the flax dough. Then cut them into shapes and stick em’ in the oven!
As an added bonus, you get to smell the seeds roasting on top at the end of the making time (aka your home will smell like heaven).
Finally, If you end up making this I’d love to see your recreations or hear how it went in the comments below! Be sure to tag me on Instagram @cookwithcourt and #cookwithcourt to share!

Super-Seedy Crackers (gluten-free, grain-free, vegan)
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup ground flax seed
- Scant 1 cup water *
- 1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 2 tbsp raw pumpkin seeds
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp salt (divided into 1/2 tsp & 1/2 tsp)
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line the bottom of a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together ground flax seeds, water, and 1/2 tsp salt in until thoroughly combined. Let gel for together for 2-3 minutes.
-
Using a spatula, spread the flax/water/salt mixture on baking sheet until it's spread evenly and into the corners (This may take a few minutes, but make sure it's evenly spread over the whole baking sheet to ensure that it bakes up evenly).
-
On top of the flax/water/salt mixture, sprinkle on top the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, additional 1/2 tsp of salt, and black pepper to taste. Press the bigger seeds into the base mixture. Before baking, cut crackers into squares or triangles using a sharp knife.
-
Place in oven and bake for 30-40 minutes until crispy and the seeds begin to smell slightly fragrant. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
*Depending on how much your flax seeds were "ground," you may technically need more water. If it's super hard to mix, add more water a tablespoon at a time. It should be a pretty goopy mixture (somewhere between cookie dough and brownie batter).
**If you got the proportions wrong... no big! These crackers are super durable. Just bake them extra long until they're crispy and you're good to go!
