SIMPLE Date Caramel
This caramel is made from natural ingredients, but certainly satisfies every sweet tooth! It’s the perfect healthy addition to party platters, bowls of oats, or a pan of brownies!

  1. If your dates are not soft, soak them in warm water for a minimum of 10 minutes. After they are done soaking, drain them from the water.
  2. Add dates, tahini, and salt to a food processor (or high speed blender). Blend on high for about 1 minute (The mixture will look like it’s not going to blend at first. Then, it will form what looks like a dough ball. After that, it should start to finally blend and become creamy). Scrape down edges and repeat blending to ensure full incorporation.
  3. Add plant milk and thin out your mixture until desired consistency is reached (when refrigerated, the mixture will thicken up even more, so keep this in mind). Store in refrigerator for up to three weeks in an airtight container. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes

*I used soft dried Deglet Noor dates, however you can use ANY variety. Mine were soft enough to blend without soaking beforehand, but if you have dates on the dry-er side, I would recommend soaking them in warm water beforehand.

**The tahini/date combo lends to a caramel-ey flavor. If you don’t have tahini, you can sub with almond butter, peanut butter, or sunflower seed butter.
